Fighting for the Values we share for Those That Fight For Us.
Defending the Force is dedicated to raising our voices together so that the political few who impact the lives of so many, understand that playing politics with our Military is not acceptable.
To be heard, we need help from every American that believes a strong Military must be allowed to operate without the damaging interference of political correctness nor political maneuvering.
Our United States Military is the single greatest fighting force in the world, because there is clarity of mission, disciplined preparation, rigorous training and unencumbered direction. All of that is dangerously compromised when politics muddy the waters.
Our country’s sons and daughters are always in harms way. No matter where they are. Our military personnel don’t need the distraction of playing politics. This is a battle we MUST fight for them.
We must protect our troops as they protect us. That is the mission of Defending The Force. Join Us.
YOU FIGHT FOR US NOW, LET US FIGHT FOR YOU
Members of the armed forces take heart.
The week before Christmas in 2010 the US Congress repealed the “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” law that prohibited gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military.
We know that many of you were firmly opposed to the repeal. In a Pentagon survey, almost 40% of Marines and 25% of the Army also said they would either leave the service or think about leaving early. In addition to contemptuously dismissing your views, the lame-duck US Senate and US House of Representatives also disregarded the congressional testimony and clearly-stated opposition of the chiefs of staff of the Air Force and the Army and the Commandant of Marines. As a former Joint Chiefs Chairman also said, overturning the policy could “break” America’s combat arms. Furthermore, the Marine commandant bluntly stated it would cost the lives of U.S. Marines.

National Effort Launched
New Ad Shows How Lawmakers Failed to Defend Military and Sided with Barack Obama and far Left Liberals in Congress Who Want to Break our Military
“FULL DISCLOSURE” DEMANDED OF ANY MEETINGS WITH “LEFT WING PRESSURE GROUPS.”
Raleigh, NC -- Accusing lawmakers of letting down our troops in a time of war, “Defending The Force” -- a group describing itself as “a pro military and national security oriented educational foundation” -- launched this week a radio spot campaign directed at five Democratic senators and one Republican Congressman. The group is demanding that the six lawmakers -- who voted in the lame duck session of Congress in 2010 to repeal the “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” rule which restricted open expression of homosexuality in the armed forces -- make ”full disclosure” to their constituents about any meetings or contacts with “left-wing pressure groups that were pushing this agenda.”
“This is the beginning of what we hope will be total informational awareness of other national security organizations and veterans groups,” said C. Edmund Wright, the group’s spokesman.
Wright added: “These Senators and this one Congressman knew about a Marine Commandant saying their vote would cost the lives of Marines; they knew about a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff saying their “yes” vote could break the military. They knew about three sitting service chiefs saying this was a terrible idea. They had statistics from a Pentagon survey showing almost 40 percent of Marines said they would leave or consider leaving early and 25 % of the Army saying the same if this policy was changed.”
“Why in the world would these politicians who always love to have their pictures taken with the troops and talk about how pro military they are let the troops down just when it really counted? The truth is this: Instead of supporting the military, they couldn’t wait to do President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi a favor in the last days of their full power over Congress.”
“President Obama and Nancy Pelosi had been decisively repudiated in the 2010 election, yet a few days later these six lawmakers sided with President Obama and Nancy Pelosi to conduct a social experiment and weaken the military.”
Wright observed, “President Obama has targeted everything that works in America and reflects traditional values: small business owners, doctors, and now the military. How many dedicated young soldiers have left or are thinking of leaving the military thanks to the votes cast by these six lawmakers? With their votes, these six lawmakers are aiding and abetting Obama’s radical agenda.”
Wright said the group’s radio ads are now playing in drive time.
He said, “phase one is letting people know about these votes.”
In phase two, “We are going to demand accountability and answers to questions.”
Members of Congress, he said, would be asked to answer these questions:
“Did they or any members of their staff meet with representatives of left wing pressure groups on this issue? Did they receive donations from such groups?”
“Were they promised support if they would go along with the Obama agenda to “break the military” and jeopardize the “lives” of Marines?
And remember. Those aren’t our words. Those are the words of the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and former Marine Commandant.
Many of you are asking how this repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell could happen?
How the same politicians always so anxious to show voters back home they “support the troops” and get a picture with you could turn their backs on you at Christmas time.
First, please understand that this bill only passed in the House of Representatives because it was a “lame duck” session, which means many supporters would soon be giving up the seats they lost in the November election precisely because they voted for this sort of radical-left legislation. Because new the House of Representatives coming in this January would never approve this bill its proponents needed to ram it through at Christmas with the votes of those who can never be hold accountable by voters.
But the US Senate vote was key. Twice before the Senate had defeated this bill due to the efforts of Senator John McCain who knows what war and heroic duty is about. All Americans owe him a debt of gratitude.
But ultimately Senator McCain could not prevail against a massive inside Washington lobbying campaign of special interest groups and their strongest allies - - “new organizations” that decline to tell their readers and viewers that on this issue they aren’t really journalists but political actors determined not to give fair coverage to those who dissent. Newspapers like the Washington Post and New York Times -- who are always demanding public officials tell the truth -- won’t admit to the public their own conflict of interest, as corporate entities they have signed on to the gay rights agenda and they have an institutional bias towards “diversity” that give a strong voice to gay activists in their newsrooms.
As expected, the liberal, old-line broadcast networks like CBS, NBC and ABC engaged in coverage that was a travesty of fairness and balance. And the once-respected Associated Press continued its leftward lurch with one-sided or false reports.
For all of that, neither the special interests nor the media were the crucial factor. The real problem here was one as old as the American Republic itself –the ever present opportunism and strutting vanity of the members of the US Senate. To paraphrase one commentator: Senators care about their constituents on Election Day and the rest of the time they worry about their profiles in the media. So the rush to the cameras began. One cynical senator wanted favorable coverage because he is so disliked by the left wing in his state he could not consider reelection. Another former tea party candidate and former opponent of repeal wanted the liberals in his state to think better of him. Another senator was involved in an ugly financial and sex scandal and hoped his vote could get the liberal media to take it easy on him. The list goes on.
None of these senators understand, however, that the tea-party-like revulsion towards Congressional power grabs and self obsession -- 15% of the American people approve of this Congress --the lowest in history -- does not stops with their reckless spending habits. Like huge deficits or Obamacare, public anger will grow about DADT repeal as public knowledge increases about what happened. Already Senators who voted wrong are facing tough questions on the campaign trail from veterans or religious-minded Americans. Can they say that they know better than service chiefs and the people in uniform what will affect morale, esprit and unit cohesiveness? Or that the resignation of religious chaplains isn’t really happening? What will Florida senator Bill Nelson say to Navy families in Pensacola? And what about Senators from non-blue states like Montana’s Jon Tester, Pennsylvania’s Robert Casey, Michigan’s Debbie Stabenow, Missouri’s Clare McCaskill and others?
